In a previous post in this blog we explained that we had started the construction of Parque Melilla, the first shopping center in the City of Melilla, and a few months later we can say that the shopping mall is almost ready for its inauguration and we expect Parque Melilla to open its doors by the end of this year.
The center is almost fully commercialized. 85% of the commercial premises have been leased to relevant fashion, electronics or sport retailers, as well as to food operators that will be located in the usual spaces for catering, which are so important today in these types of centers.
Among the stores that will be will opened, there are renowned names such as H&M, Decathlon, Springfield, C&A, several Inditex Group brands, Eroski, Worten, Inside, Multiópticas, Cortefiel, Primor, Guess, Levi’s… In summary, the most important retailers in the Spanish commercial landscape.
We are also doing marketing with local operators for them to be present in these modern facilities. Some contracts have already been closed and we expect many more to be signed in the coming weeks.
The works are being carried out in record time, more than 80% and the operators have already assumed possession and are undertaking their fit outs.
Once Parque Melilla is inaugurated, as we mentioned in previous blogs, we expect that around 500 direct jobs and another 500 indirect jobs will be created.
This is an exciting project in a strategic city bridging Europe and the North of Africa. The impact and the catchment area in Morocco, more specifically in Nador, the second most important population in the country, will only be visible to analysis once the operations are underway but it is expected to surpass all expectations.
